Sustainability is a Technical Collaboration

Sustainability is an integrated part of Dana Lim's business and a natural part of our work in the industrial department. For us, sustainability is a technical collaboration where we work together with the customer on concrete choices in both product and process.

We work continuously to develop solutions that reduce environmental impact in our own production as well as at our customers'. This involves raw materials, energy consumption, and material usage in daily production, but also ensuring stable and robust processes where resources are not wasted.

Energy optimization means lower temperatures and less adhesive

A significant part of sustainability in industry lies within the production process itself. By optimizing the adhesive's properties, we can reduce the application amount and work at lower process temperatures. This results in lower energy consumption, less adhesive usage, and reduced waste. Even small adjustments in volume and temperature can have a noticeable effect on total resource consumption over time.

However, in our view, sustainability is also a matter of resources. Resources are lost through production errors, scrap, and unnecessary rework. We work to contribute to robust processes where production runs stably and consistently. Shorter production runs, fewer errors, and less rejection reduce both waste and environmental impact.

Our consultants help, among other things, by ensuring the adhesive is placed correctly in the process and that bonding only occurs where necessary.

The formulation of the adhesive, including viscosity and curing time, must match the application so that the connection between product and process supports efficient operation.

Sustainability is also a matter of resources

In our view, sustainability is very much about resource utilization. Resources are lost through production errors, scrapping, rework, and unnecessarily complex processes.

We work to establish robust and stable processes where production runs consistently and predictably. Shorter lead times, fewer errors, less scrap, and less wasted labor reduce both costs and environmental impact.

Our consultants help, among other things, by ensuring the adhesive is placed correctly in the process and that bonding only occurs where necessary. The formulation of the adhesive, including viscosity and curing time, is adapted to the specific application, so that the connection between product and process supports an efficient and resource-optimized operation.

Bio-based products

Within many types of raw materials, both fossil and bio-based alternatives exist today. In a number of cases, we can supply the same raw material in a bio-based variant.

If a product is already optimized in your production, we can often replace the raw material with a bio-based version without changing the fundamental process elements. In most cases, we can implement such a replacement with limited intervention in production.

The choice is always evaluated in relation to requirements for performance, stability, and documentation.

Low Formaldehyde

In production environments with specific requirements for formaldehyde levels, we offer adhesive systems with low formaldehyde and documented content. These can be integrated into the company's overall product and environmental profile.

Documentation

The choice of adhesive supplier also has an impact on sustainability efforts. Collaborating with a supplier who has full control over their ingredients and can document what the products contain is an essential prerequisite for both compliance and environmental reporting.

We ensure up-to-date documentation and transparency regarding our products.

The total environmental footprint

Even though adhesive often constitutes a small part of the finished product, it has a significant impact on the total environmental footprint across various industries. The correct choice of adhesive system and optimized application can contribute to lower energy consumption, reduced material usage, and less waste in production.

We view sustainability as a technical collaboration where, through consultancy and product development, we support our customers' efforts to reduce environmental impact and strengthen their documentation.
