Fire Safety in 2025: Why it pays off doing it right the first time

Fire safety is no longer just a checklist task, it has become a professional discipline in its own right. The demands for correct execution and documentation are increasing, and this is felt both on construction sites and at the Nordic region's largest manufacturer of adhesives and sealants, Dana Lim.

The increased focus on proper fire safety is not unfounded. Stricter regulatory requirements and more frequent inspections today place higher demands on both documentation and correct execution, and this is evident directly on construction sites, where the demand for reliable solutions is rising.

"At Dana Lim, we have long focused on developing documented solutions for passive fire protection, because we know how crucial it is for both safety and building quality. We are experiencing a clear rise in demand for products where documentation, performance, and proper application go hand in hand, and that places high demands on both our production and our technical consultancy," says Kenneth Holm Andersen, Development Manager for Sealants and Adhesives at Dana Lim.

One person who has noticed this is Philip Bavnhøj, owner of the newly established company Fugetastisk ApS, which specializes in fire protection tasks. For him, summer is peak season, he is currently working on a large concrete building in Ringsted, where more than 5,500 meters need to be sealed and fireproofed in accordance with all applicable regulations. Here, precision and documentation are critical.

For such important and extensive tasks, he has teamed up with Dana Lim, the Nordic region's largest manufacturer of adhesives, sealants, and fillers, with expertise in documented solutions for passive fire protection. The collaboration has given him peace of mind as well as enhanced professionalism.

"At Dana Lim, I don't just get products, I get solutions. They know how their products perform in practice, and they are always ready with technical support when I need it. That makes a huge difference," he says.

Documentation Is Not Optional

Different building materials, such as concrete, gypsum, lightweight concrete, and steel, each impose different requirements for both sealants and backfill. That's why preparation is crucial. For Philip Bavnhøj, every job starts with reading the datasheets and ensuring that all specifications and fire requirements are met.

"If you want to deliver quality, it requires taking the time to understand the solution and choosing the right product for the specific task. And here, the documentation from Dana Lim is a strong tool," explains Philip Bavnhøj, before concluding:

"It doesn't take longer to do it right. It just requires that you set aside the time to understand things. And it pays off. Not just in terms of better safety, but also fewer mistakes and more satisfied customers," he concludes.
